WINTER SKILLS TRAINING WEEKEND FEB 2017 CAIRNGORMS
Killin MRT members visited the Cairngorms this weekend 4th 5th February 2017 for personal winter skills training provided by AMI qualified instructors. Snow and ice has been limited this winter. However team members were not disappointed. There was sufficient snow and hard neve high up; and the first real snow of the winter arrived when the team were training on the hill.
It is beneficial to train in unfamiliar areas to test micro navigation skills, avalanche awareness, and safe negotiation of mixed and steep snow covered slopes. Thank you to the instructors for providing an enjoyable two days training.
